Live to Die Another Day...

Greg, Miss Chicken and I decided to rent a car for a couple days as this allowed us more flexibility in terms of driving at night. After our first and only drive back to La Kosta in the evening, we both agreed that nighttime driving was best left to the relative safe confines of a car. However, safety is a relative term. I think both of us experienced higher than normal blood pressure during the drive home tonight, but once again, I digress.

The next day, we decided to circumnavigate the island within the relative safety of the car. We drove to Nathon, about a twenty-five minute drive north for lunch and a look-see. While the drive was enough to create a stress-induced migraine, we made it without incident. Straight-away we found a great local shop with handmade items; we bought some gifts (earrings for Greg's girls and an elephant for Betsy) and a great place setting for us.

Lunch was great: green papaya salad and a chicken sandwich for me, and a chicken burger with fries for Greg. We both had a fresh pineapple juice as well...all this for about 240 baht ($8.00) not bad. On our walk back towards the car we discovered a nouveau Harley Davidson apparel shop. Lots of leather, some used boots and jackets and very cool handbags. We both picked up hand crafted bags for a reasonable price. I resisted the urge to buy the cow hide bag and opted for a cowhide belt instead.

We continued our circumnavigation of the island without much mishap. Live to die another day...
