One Night in Bangkok...

A view of the Chaopraya River at sunset from our balcony at the Shangri La Hotel. This year, due to renovations, we didn't have a balcony suite but our room was beautiful all the same.

When the sun sets and the lights dim in Bangkok, it's time to head to Khao San Road. This street is definitely the underbelly of Bangkok; street vendors, prostitutes, pirated movies and DVD's and cheap t-shirts merely scratch the surface of what one can find on Khao San Road. Everything is for sale and life is cheap. Want a massage with a happy ending? Head to Khao San Road.

"Be Prepared" is good advice. Pickpockets, hookers and scam artists abound on Khao San Road.

Noodes galore, seriously good eats. Perhaps my indulgence in this authentic street food explains my gastric distress last year.

These pictures are from our trip last year; we decided to skip the debauchery as Greg had to start working the job fairs earlier this year and really, once you've looked at the hard edge there's not much new to see. Besides, we had already picked up our 'cheap' DVDs and CDs from a different source.

What impression could this young girl possibly have of the happening around her? She was bored and somewhat aggressive in attitude... what does her future hold?

Streetside karaoke anyone?

Sure to be the next international hit in all the hip bars and nightclubs, the "Kim Cocktail. Very Strong". With advertising like that, who could resist?

Even inanimate objects are objectified on Khao San Road
